Perhaps the Oscar winner is more similar to his fans than we first realized

Leonardo DiCaprio really is just like us!

Before you immediately click away or think we are absolutely crazy, let us explain. While the 41-year-old actor may be an Oscar winner, have plenty of friendships with models and hold a whole lot of money in the bank, deep down, he really can be just a normal guy.

Earlier today, E! News obtained video of the actor trying to meet up with his good friend and former co-star. But before reuniting face-to-face on the streets of New York City, Leonardo decided to have some innocent fun by scaring the you-know-what out of his buddy.

Something you may do, right? In Leonardo's case, however, he just has to add that A-list touch by having Jonah freaking Hill as the guy he's meeting up with.

It got us thinking of all the times Leonardo was just like us but with a star-studded, only in Hollywood, addition. So without further ado, take a look and consider this: Perhaps we really are more alike than we are different.

Leonardo DiCaprio's Best Roles

1. Texting With BFFs: When it comes to catching up or communicating with your friends, phone calls are so yesterday. Instead, it's all about texting. Leo is no exception as we learned during a segment of Carpool Karaoke. "Hey baby, I'm kind of feeling like I need to cut loose. Any suggestions? Let me know, JLo, you know, from the block," James Corden wrote using Jennifer Lopez's phone. So what was the actor's response? "You mean tonight, Boo Boo? Club-wise?" Talk about impressive contacts. So, who else is in that address book?

2. Water Games: As the temperatures rise in the summer, what does one need? A little H2O, of course! There's no doubt we've followed Leo's lead and used a super soaker with friends to help cool down. In this guy's case, however, his cool stunt ends up with memes all over the Internet. We are not worthy.

3. Carnival: Whenever there is a festival in our neck of the woods, we are the first to go. After all, who can resist funnel cakes, carnival rides and face painting? But when Leo goes to the carnival, it could be with a model or at Coachella where he just happens to run into Rihanna. Why can't our parties be this cool?

4. Dancing at Coachella Music Festival: If you go to a concert, it's more than understandable to dance like no one is watching. Leo absolutely followed that mindset in Indio, Calif. Unfortunately for him, complete strangers are compelled to videotape the whole thing and post it on social media. At least you have smooth moods dude, especially when it's to the sounds of MGMT

5. Girl Scout Cookies: When a new year begins, we are the first ones running to Target, Ralph's or other grocery stores picking out boxes of our favorite cookie flavors. But when Leo gets the opportunity to chow down on Thin Mints or shortbread cookies, he has to do it at the 2016 Oscars. Meanwhile, we'll be on our couch cheering him on.

6. Vacations: Everybody needs a good getaway after a busy work routine and schedule. And while we are all about going somewhere tropical, nobody vacations by the water quite like Leo. Maybe it's on a yacht with beautiful ladies. Maybe it's at the sold-out clubs in Ibiza. Or maybe it's performing extreme water sports like flyboarding. We wanna get away the Leo way.

7. Ice Bucket Challenge: While we were more than willing to participate in the charitable act by getting soaked and donating the recommended $10, Leo decided to take it one step further. After accepting the challenge from David Beckham, the actor decided to donate $100,000 to ALS research. Every little bit counts, right?

8. Kiss Cam: Whenever we go to a baseball game or sporting event, there's a small part of us that hopes we're apart of the special tradition with our partner. But when it happened to Leo at the 2016 BAFTA Awards, he got to kiss the one and only Maggie Smith. Game over!

9. Instagram Official: Can you go back and remember the first photo you posted onto the social media site? Maybe it was a selfie or a picture-perfect view of the sunset. For Leo, he decided to snap a picture with a United Nations Secretary-General. "Today, I have the privilege to speak at the United Nations #Climate2014 Summit where world leaders are expected to announce the bold steps they will take to tackle climate change," he captioned. "Thank you Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon."

10. Praise Jesus: While some of us visit the Vatican to snap photos or attend mass, Leo goes to meet the one and only Pope Francis. While the meeting was only 15 minutes long, the pair discussed the importance of climate change. The Oscar winner later described the encounter as "an amazing experience."
