The Ultimatum star Lisa Horne wants to make amends.
Hours after the finale and reunion episodes of the Netflix show's second season hit the streaming service, the reality star shared public apologies to partner Brian Okoye and castmate Riah Nelson.
Within the first two episodes of this season, Lisa and Brian got into a heated argument over his date with Riah, culminating in Lisa striking Brian across the face before storming out. But before making her exit, Lisa also made critical remarks about Riah, including calling the 24-year-old a "Hooters bitch." (Brian and Lisa left the show early after finding out that they were expecting a baby).
Now, Lisa says she wants to take the "opportunity to reflect on this insightful journey."
"I would like to apologize to my fellow cast members, family and friends who were affected by my words and actions on the show," a statement shared to her Instagram Aug. 30 read. "I have apologized to both Brian and Rich privately and now I am doing so publicly. To Riah, I apologize for any hurtful words used to describe you."
She added, "No one should be judged based on their age or place of employment, and I believe in empowering women in all walks of life."
Noting where she and Brian stood at the time of filming, Lisa said the couple "faced existing relationship challenges," which "greatly triggered" her going into the series.
"During filming, we also learned we were expecting," she continued. "While this does not excuse my behavior, I also extend my apologies to Brian for any aggression I displayed toward him as I do not condone violence of any kind. While I've never publicly or privately displayed those kinds of actions, I understand my behavior reflected poorly on myself, our relationship and the show."
The Netflix star went on to acknowledge that "reality TV is an opportunity to showcase our lives and personalities," but added that it "doesn't excuse hurtful actions."
"As Brian and I continue with relationship counseling and nurturing our growing family, I have been committed to learning and growing from this experience by taking steps to improve my own reactions and relationship triggers," she noted. "I am also grateful for the lessons this situation has taught me, despite the hard path I traveled to learn those lessons."
In the caption of her social media post, Lisa noted that her public statement was not her "first apology."
"I could not address anything until everything was aired," the reality star wrote. "I appreciate those that hold me accountable with love. I'm not perfect and would never pretend to be but I have learned and grown…and will continue to do so."
As for Riah, she has not publicly responded to the apology.
