Marley & No One

Tina Fey might be leaving planet Earth if Sarah Palin is elected into the White House, but we're thinking about hightailing it out of H'wood when we heard that Beverly Hills Chihuahua was the No. 1 movie at the box office. A bunch of CGI mutts trampled Shia LaBeouf (Eagle Eye), Leonardo DiCaprio (Body of Lies) and a schlocky horror movie during Halloween season (Quarantine). We love pooches, as we make abundantly clear, but are Americans really a sucker for a cute face and a wet nose? Guess that's how Lindsay Lohan keeps getting cast.

More ways H'wood has gone to the dogs: Marley, the titular canine of Jen Aniston and Owen Wilson's upcoming Marley & Me, is pimping out his Xmas flick at Race for the Rescues at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Oct 25. The 5k race, hosted by the too fab Jane Lynch, helps support nonprofit rescue groups and helps abandoned pups find a good home, a hard thing for even humans to find in Hell-Ay. A good cause, surely, and a sly way for the studio to promote this dog of a flick, since M&M's Homo sapien stars will probably distance themselves as far as possible from this disaster.

Then again, if people love their pups even when they're spewing Hispanic stereotypes with their computer-animated mouths, then anything's possible.
