Angelina Staying Put for Now
The twins' arrival came earlier than expected. Angelina Jolie's departure won't be following suit.
A spokeswoman for Lenval hospital, where the Jolie-Pitt brood welcomed new additions Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, told E! News that the new mother remains in the maternity ward at the hospital and will not, per the latest round of speculation, be checking out today.
"After a C-section, the normal stay for a mother in the Lenval hospital is between eight and 10 days," Nadine Bauer said.
When asked directly if Jolie was due for discharge later today, Bauer said, "No."
Jon Voight as "Excited as Everybody Else" About Jolie-Pitt Twins
Things aren't perfect between Angelina Jolie and her dad, Jon Voight. But at least the arrival of new babies is a blessed event everyone can get behind.
"All I can say is, like any father, it's the most exciting thing that a new soul is coming in," Voight told E! News Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour, where he was discussing his upcoming role as a baddie on 24.
"You know, I don't think there's anything more exciting than that. And that they're Angie's babies, and Brad's, all my love goes to them. I was very excited. I was just as excited as everybody else."
And how does he feel about his daughter bringing two more grandbabies into the fold all at once?
Golf With Morgan Freeman Clubs Angelina's Jacket
Sharing threads with Angelina Jolie? Hot. Sharing a tee time with Morgan Freeman? Way hot!
A round of golf with the sonorous thesp sold for $49,000 earlier this month in an online auction benefiting hurricane relief victims, nearly five times as much as the winning bid for the sleek leather jacket Jolie wore in her new action flick, Wanted.
Her assassin's black zip-up from the film, which also stars Freeman, ultimately fetched $10,300.
The $2,722 per hole it's costing some philanthropic soul to hit the links with the Oscar-winning 71-year-old also includes a rainproof golf outfit and a set of spanking-new clubs, but still—it shows you can't underestimate the value of making small talk with a guy who's played God.
Not that he and Jolie were competing with each other.
Angelina's Doctor Calls Brad "My Assistant"; Mayor "Thrilled" by Twins' Nice Connection
Angelina Jolie's doctor, Michel Sussmann, held an impromptu press conference on the steps of the Lenval hospital on Sunday afternoon.
He said Brad Pitt and Angelina were as calm as could be.
During the labor and delivery, the couple "were talking, they were together," Sussmann (above left) told reporters outside the Fondation Lenval in Nice, France, where twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon were born Saturday evening. "It was an epidural, so [Angelina] was awake and speaking and laughing. They were happy."
Is Knox Gold? Vivienne the Next Isabella?
As Knox and Vivienne may or may not know, their famous parents are trendsetters. In the world of baby names.
Among girls, Shiloh, the name given to the daughter born to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in 2006, cracked the top 1,000 most popular baby names last year for the first time, U.S. Social Security online records show.
Among boys, Maddox, the name bestowed upon the son adopted by Jolie in 2002 (and by Pitt in 2006), debuted in the top 1,000 in 2003—likewise, one year after making Hollywood headlines.
So will the names of the twins born last night to the couple, boy Knox Leon and girl Vivienne Marcheline, be similarly emulated?
