In one of the most honorable moments of the evening, Rami Malek is taking home his very first Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Elliot Alderson in Mr. Robot.

The competition was incredibly fierce as he went up against a list of amazing actors, including: Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline) and Matthew Rhys (The Americans).

In his acceptance speech, Malek could barely believe it himself. "Please tell me you're seeing this, too," he told the audience with wide eyes. "Oh, my God. Thank you."

He continued, "Thank you to the academy, and everyone that gave me a chance to play this role...I am honored to be recognized with such a distinguished and accomplished group of actors. I'm honored to stand here and represent my family and every single person who's helped me get this far. I'm honored to work with a pure visionary in [creator] Sam Esmail."

Though Malek agreed Elliot might not be someone you'd consider a friend, he said we can all relate to him.

"I play a young man who is, I think, like so many of us, profoundly alienated," he explained. "And the unfortunate thing is, I'm not sure how many of us would want to hang out with a guy like Elliott. But I want to honor the Elliotts. Because there's a little bit of Elliott in all of us, isn't there?"

Meanwhile, Malek is in good company for celebrating his big win, bringing his cousin as his date!

"You're with your family—it's the best way to go through an experience like this," he gushed to E! News' Giuliana Rancic as his cousin looked on with pride.

"I am so proud of him," Malek's well-dressed date, clad in a Marchesa gown, confessed.

Funny enough, not every member of Malek's family was so unconditionally supportive. In fact, his twin brother jokingly told him he should probably practice doing a grateful loser face rather than write an acceptance speech for the awards tonight.

Malek's response? "I love you too. Thank you."

Looks like he can give him a hard time for a while about that one!
