One Thing Mr. Robot Has Yet to Address

Rami Malek's hair has become a thing, apparently

Mr. Robot—First, let me just say I love you. I'm fascinated by you. With that out of the way, let's tackle the issue at hand: Elliot's hair.

It's great hair, that's for sure, but it's a very specific style. A style that apparently a lot of people love.

"Your haircut, being close to it is an honor. I love it," Seth Meyers told Rami Malek during the Mr. Robot star's recent visit to Late Night With Seth Meyers. "Again, this is one of the many things about the show that people know you from is this haircut. And a lot of people copycatting?"

Malek said the haircut prompted a strange encounter with a barber.

"I went into the barber the other day and I was sitting down and she came by and she looked at me—I hadn't been in there before—she just started laughing at me, which just made me feel kind of awkward," he said. "And then a few minutes later she came by and said, ‘I'm sorry for laughing at you. That was weird. But everyone comes in here and asks for your haircut and now you're here, asking for your haircut.'"

See? Good haircut. But! In Mr. Robot, especially the season two premiere, Malek's character makes it such a point to stick to his routine, which includes meals, helping around the house, attending a church group, talking about Seinfeld, journaling, etc., yet no mention of when he gets a haircut.

If he does get his haircut on a regular basis, is it the same barber? Does he talk to his barber? What are their conversations like? Nonexistent probably. Does he do it himself? That seems unlikely given the clean lines. Elliot doesn't seem like a character that cares too much about appearance, yet his hair is perfect. As somebody who goes to the barber on a regular basis (every two weeks, got to stay fresh), I know about the upkeep needed.

We hardly ever see TV characters doing menial tasks—they've got more important things to do like hack major companies and erase debt—but if any show were to do this, please let it be you Mr. Robot. Reveal Elliot's hair routine, just once.

Mr. Robot airs—with the perfect hair—on Wednesdays, 10 p.m. on USA.

(E! and USA are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
