Watch: Michael B. Jordan Confirms "Creed 2" Is Happening

Get ready for Creed 2!

Michael B. Jordan says he's not sure when the follow-up to his 2015 hit Rocky reboot will hit theaters, but "hopefully soon."

The storyline is still being worked out. "I think when we left off, Adonis and Rocky were in this weird place of starting their own family, their own little nucleus," Jordan told me last night at the Four Seasons Resort in Maui during the Maui Film Festival, where he was honored with this year's Rainmaker Award. "It will be very interesting to see how that family evolves. And Adonis hasn't won a pro fight. He's not champ yet so I think we've got some places to go."

Jordan says he still has his hot Creed body, but he added, "Let me not lie. It was about four or five of straight months rebounding—Krispy Kreme donuts, fast food. It was hardcore. But now I'm getting back into shape for a couple of projects coming up."

One of those projects is reportedly The Black Panther supehero movie with his Fruitvale Station and Creed director Ryan Coogler. However, Jordan politely declined to confirm his participation in the flick, which will star Chadwick Boseman in the title role.

Also coming up for Jordan is his directorial debut with a short film he's co-writing about two brothers, one of whom uses his chess skills to navigate through life. "I grew up playing a lot of chess," said the New Jersey native, who will also co-star in the project. "I think it really helped me think and strategize and it gave me some focus and discipline so I'm trying to put that back into some art."

Honorees at the 2016 Maui Film Festival also include Viola Davis, Bryan Cranston, Wyatt Russell and Kelly Rohrbach.
