So long 2023, thanks for the memories.
A lot can change in a year, just take a look at all of the stars who debuted major hair transformations over the last twelve months because life's too short to not occasionally switch up your signature style. While Kourtney Kardashian and Kate Beckinsale opted to go blonde, Megan Fox and Dua Lipa were ready to paint the town red by dyeing their locks a fiery hue.
Plus, Hayden Panettiere went pink, later adding green to her tresses for a watermelon-themed hairstyle, and Helen Mirren showed off a bright blue 'do.
Aside from color changes, stars also showed off new cuts, with Hailey Bieber and Zendaya debuting blunt blobs that immediately had their fans booking appointments at their salons and Lupita Nyong'o and Brian Austin Green both shaving their heads.
And the dramatic transformations weren't just reserved to celebs' haircare as HGTV stars Tarek El Moussa and Ben Napier revealing the results of their respective fitness regimen overhauls, while YouTuber MrBeast also shared his weight loss journey. And Heartstopper's Kit Connor made, well, hearts skip a beat when he shared photos from his gym sessions.
So, before we ring in 2024 and all the new looks it'll have in store, we're looking back on the most surprising celeb transformations of the year:
Zendaya
The one where Zendaya paid homage to Friends.
The Dune star showed off a new 'do on her Instagram Story after getting "a little refresh" in August, rocking a shorter layered haircut similar to the one made famous by Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green on the iconic NBC sitcom.
Brian Austin Green
9021-Zero opinions were necessary after the star shaved his head for an upcoming role.
Green took to Instagram to reveal his new look in August, captioning the post, "Fresh cut. Thought I'd share."
The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum went on to share that the buzzcut was "for work," addressing previous comments weighing in on his transformation, explaining, "since people seem to want to comment about their opinion on it."
Kate Beckinsale
Beckinsale was ready to find out if blondes have more fun when she ditched her brunette locks for a dramatic light-colored bob hairstyle, debuting her transformation in December.
Hailey Bieber
The Rhode Skin founder kissed her signature style of chest-length tresses goodbye and unveiled a dramatic bob haircut.
She showcased her bold new look in a Jan. 21 TikTok, cheekily captioning her video, "Oops."
A few weeks later, Bieber showed off another major change to her 'do, revealing she had lightened her locks.
Celebrity hairstylist Matt Rez was responsible for Bieber's blonder strands, which he described as "honey vibes" on his Instagram.
Hayden Panettiere
Panettiere took to Instagram in September to debut a playful, bubble gum pink and slightly shorter hairstyle.
"Pink hair don't care!" the Scream actress captioned the snap.
But she wasn't done switching up her look just yet as she unveiled yet another transformation, adding green roots that blended into her bright blush locks.
As she captioned the photos, "Love my new watermelon vibes up top!"
Helen Mirren
Mirren stole the show at the opening ceremony and Jeanne du Barry screening at Cannes Film Festival 2023 in May when she stepped out with bright blue hair.
MrBeast
YouTuber MrBeast had viewers hitting like on the results of his fitness journey.
The social media star, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, shared insight into his workout routines, posting before-and-after shirtless images of his gym transformation in June.
"Woke up and realized I was obese so I started lifting and walking 12,500 steps a day," MrBeast tweeted. "Still got a long way to being yoked but I'm happy with my progress so far."
Jennifer Love Hewitt
After showing off her new red hue and blunt bob cut with curtain bangs in August, the 9-1-1 star could hardly wait to set the record straight about her appearance when some people commented on how her facial features looked different.
Hewitt addressed speculation she's had cosmetic procedures done by taking to Instagram Stories to share several photos of herself using filters that extremely altered her face.
"So many people said I look different," she cheekily captioned post. "I look the same as always. Couldn't look more natural...Filters don't change you that much."
Tom Schwartz

Lupita Nyong'o
The Oscar winner showed off her shaved head with a stunning selfie in May, the Black Panther star captioning the post, "Happy without hair!"
Tarek El Moussa
After flipping over to a healthier lifestyle, the Flipping 101 star shared the results of his fitness journey this summer, posting Instagram photos of himself before and after overhauling his diet and workout routine.
Reflecting on his wellness in the throwback photo, "sometimes you think you're doing the right thing but what you actually need is redirection in order to see growth," El Moussa wrote. "In that photo I was doing some hot yoga, wasn't really on any kind of schedule, wasn't tracking my protein intake, and didn't really have any guidance."
El Moussa then detailed his current routine, sharing, "I'm up early every AM to workout, I have a solid routine (thanks to @seantorbati), I'm taking the right supplements."
The HGTV host also noted, "I'm eating the right food & Hot yoga 1-2 times a week which is so good for my mental & physical state."
Kourtney Kardashian
The Kardashians star unveiled her most drastic hair transformation yet when she rocked a platinum blonde bob.
Kardashian debuted her bold new color in March, sharing an image of her hair being bleached on her Instagram Stories.
Two months later, the Poosh founder ended her blonde era, returning to her jet-black hair, captioning an Instagram post, "brunette4lyfe."
Ben Napier
Wait until the hometown sees this video!
HGTV's Erin Napier gave insight into her husband and Home Town co-host's wellness journey, sharing a clip of his transformation.
"@scotsman.co got hardcore about his health and fitness last winter ahead of his big shoulder surgery that was in March so he could sleep better on his back and lower his BP," she wrote on Instagram in July. "Mission accomplished.
As for what inspires Ben to stay on this track? "What ya think @people? Can I make the top 50 again?" the 40-year-old, who was featured in People's 2021 "Sexiest Man Alive" issue, wrote in the comments. "That's my real motivation."
Megan Fox

The Transformers star debuted a drastic style change in September, unveiling a vibrant red hair color and a blunt bob.
While Fox has rocked auburn tresses in the past, she took it to the next level with an extremely bright and bold shade of crimson.
As for what inspired the Jennifer's Body actress' new look?
We wanted something major that was jaw dropping for Megan," Fox's hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos exclusively told E! News. "Just like her fiery personality, this look is so bold."
Giannetos revealed Fox also wanted to switch up her style ahead of the autumn season.
"Megan was ready for a bold change," he added, "and now seemed like the perfect time, especially since red shades are on trend for the fall."
David Venable
This milestone deserved a happy dance.
The QVC host celebrated his year-long health journey by sharing before and after photos of his transformation.
"On February 3, 2022…I met with my doctor and we had a very direct conversation about my need to be my best self," he wrote on Instagram. "The photo on the left is right after I left the doctor's office and the photo on the right shows me one year later and 70 POUNDS DOWN!"
The Half Homemade, Fully Delicious cookbook author added, "Thank you ALL for your incredible support and encouragement."
Dua Lipa
The singer had fans levitating when she ditched her signature dark tresses in favor of a fiery red hue in October.
Miley Cyrus
Cyrus might have once sang she can't be tamed, but her mane can definitely be changed.
Never afraid to switch up her look, the "Flowers" singer returned to her natural brunette roots, unveiling her latest hair transformation in a September instagram post.
After most recently rocking bleach blonde locks, Cyrus showed off her darker 'do in the photos, taken by photographer Pat Pedraja.
Kit Connor
The Netflix star had hearts stopping when he showed off his incredible fitness transformation in March.
Not only did get fans get to see Connor's physique in a YouTube video shared by powerlifter Nathaniel Massiah, but viewers also got a glimpse into the Heartstopper actor's training session.
As seen in the footage, the duo worked out their chests, shoulders and triceps.Kit pumped some iron, he also answered some burning fan questions.
Connor revealed that he got started in the gym due to his casting in Heartstopper, after he compared himself to the comic book character he portrays onscreen.
"It's based on a comic book and the character that I'm based on is like six [foot] two, very big," he said. "And I was like shorter than I am now and skinnier. When it got announced, there were some people on the internet going like, ‘He's a bit too skinny to play him.' I saw that and I was like, 'S--t,' so then I just started eating loads."
